My Secret Life ( Engl. For My Secret Life ) is a studio album by British rock singer Eric Burdon , which was published in 2004. The single "Once Upon a Time" is included. The album was a commercial failure and only placed in the German album charts .

background

When work on a studio album, which had 12 tracks, was completed for the first time in 16 years, the record was released in 2004 as his "comeback album". Shortly before it was released, Burdon listened to an album by Leonard Cohen in the middle of the night that included the song "In my Secret Life". He ran back to the studio and decided to put a 13th track on the record. In addition, the 13 tracks differ for the first time enormously from Burdon's previous rock / hard rock music, so there are traditional rock ballads like "Factory Girl", blues like "Once upon a Time" but " jazzy " songs like "Heaven" or Leonard Cohen 's "In my Secret Life".

Songs

  • "Once upon a Time" is a blues work that Burdon knew from Robert Blackely and revised it. In this song Burdon sings about his time when he was still in school and fell in love with a girl. He mentions u. a. Marvin Gaye , Sam Cooke , Elvis Presley and Otis Redding . It was the only single release from the album.
  • "Over the Border" is a rock song that Burdon got written by composer / songwriter David Munyon .
  • "Heaven" was originally by Talking Heads and was rewritten by Burdon because the bar called Heaven should be a positive side.
