Mychajlo Doroshenko

Mychajlo Doroshenko ( Ukrainian Михайло Дорошенко ; † 1628 near Kaffa , Crimea ) was between 1623 and 1628 the hetman of the registered Cossacks in Ukraine .

Mychajlo Doroshenko became colonel of the Cossacks in 1616 and took part in Petro Sahaidachnyi's campaign against Tsarist Russia and in the Battle of Chocim in 1621.

After the rebellion of the registered Cossacks under their hetman Marko Schmailo ( Марко Жмайло ) against the Poles failed, he became the hetman of the registered Cossacks in 1623. On November 5, 1625 Doroshenko signed the treaty of Kurukowe with the representative of the Polish crown Stanisław Koniecpolski . In 1626 he led the registered Cossacks against the Zaporozhian Cossacks , as they were against the concluded treaty. He then became involved in the internal affairs of the Crimean Khanate . He died in 1628 during the siege of Kaffa in the Crimea. Mychajlo Doroshenko was the grandfather of Petro Doroshenko .
