Mycoplasma agalactiae is a type of bacteria from the genus Mycoplasma . As with all mycoplasmas, there is no cell wall around the cell membrane . Without a cell wall, they are insensitive to many common antibiotics such as penicillin or other β-lactam antibiotics that hinder cell wall synthesis. Mycoplasmas are among the smallest known bacterial cells.

The species can trigger an infectious agalacty in sheep and goats . It is found in sheep and goat milk and causes mastitis . At least eleven strains of this species have been characterized. Entire flocks infected with these bacteria have been lost.

The type trunk PG2 = CIP 59.7 = NCTC 10123.
