Myfanwy Piper
Mary Myfanwy Piper , born Mary Myfanwy Evans (born March 28, 1911 in London , † January 18, 1997 in Fawley Bottom ( Buckinghamshire )), was an English journalist and opera librettist .
Life
Born in London, she married the artist John Piper (1903–1992).
She has worked with Benjamin Britten and wrote the librettos for several of his and other operas:
- The Turn of the Screw (after Henry James )
- Owen Wingrave (after Henry James)
- Death in Venice (based on Thomas Mann's novella).
