Mykola Jankowskyj

Mykola Andrijowytsch Jankowskyj ( Ukrainian Микола Андрійович Янковський ; born August 12, 1944 in Pokotylowe , Kirovohrad Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian politician and industrialist. He is considered one of the wealthiest Ukrainians.

Mykola Jankowskyj graduated from the Ukrainian State Chemical and Technological University in Dnipropetrovsk in 1969 as a chemical engineer . From 1963 to 1969 he was a senior chemical engineer for ammonia in the chemical factory Dniprodzerzhynsk . Jankowskyj is a doctor of economics, professor, department head Advanced Management Technologies at Donetsk State University of Management . He has been a member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine since 1992 and a professor emeritus of the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology. He is also an honorary doctor of the State Academy for Technical Regulation and Quality in Odessa and an academic at the International Academy of Standardization. Since 1999 he has been the head of the “New Technologies in Management” department at Donetsk State University of Management.

Publications

Jankowskyj is the author of more than 150 scientific works and publications, including 10 monographs and textbooks. The monographs include: "Model of the external economic activity of companies in the chemical industry" (1997), "Forecast of the development of a large industrial complex: theory and practice" (1999), "Improving the efficiency of the external economic activity of a large industrial complex" (2000 ) and “Innovative and Classical Theories on Disasters and Economic Crises” (2010).

Career and business activities

After Mykola Jankowskyj had learned the chemical production business, he was promoted to director at "Azot" in 1984. In 1987 he became chief engineer and in 1988 general director of OJSC Stirol. Under his leadership the company expanded and Stirol became one of the largest producers of chemical products in Eastern Europe. By the end of the 1990s, Jankowskyj was able to gain control of Stirol.

During his tenure, he was responsible for the construction of two of the ten existing Ukrainian ammonia plants and was involved in the modernization of three others.

Before selling OSJC Stirol, Jankowskyj prepared the company for an IPO, which, however, failed due to the uncertainties on the natural gas markets.

In 2010 the majority of the OSJC Stirol shares were sold to Ostchem Holdings. According to the Kyiv Post , Mykola Jankowskyj was one of the wealthiest Ukrainians in 2010.

Social Commitment

Mykola Jankowskyj introduced environmentally friendly production processes at OJSC "Stirol", which significantly reduced the environmental impact.

He also supported the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the building of churches in Horlivka and other cities in Ukraine.

Political activities

From 1994 to 1998 he was a member of the Donetsk Regional Council. He was then a member of the Ukrainian Parliament for four terms .

family

Jankowskyj is married to Galina (* 1949). The marriage resulted in three children.

Awards

  • The title Hero of Ukraine with the Award of the State Order (May 22, 2003): The award was given for outstanding personal merits to the Ukrainian state in the form of further development of the chemical industry and the production of competitive domestic products.
  • Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise (fifth grade) (November 30, 2012): The order is given to citizens for special services in honor of Ukraine such as B. awarded for strengthening the international reputation of the Ukrainian economy and for outstanding charitable and humanistic activities. For a significant personal contribution to the socio-economic, scientific and technical, cultural and educational development of the Ukrainian state, significant work and long-term hard work
  • Medal of Honor of the President of Ukraine (December 7, 1994): Awarded for significant personal contributions to the development and manufacture of high quality chemical products and their recognition in the global market.
  • Order "Token of Honor" (for the construction of an ammonia production plant in 1979)
  • Order of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (2008)
  • Manager of the Year (2006): " Investgazeta" and "Top 100" voted Jankowskyj Manager of the Year in Ukraine.
  • Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada of the USSR (for the construction of the second ammonia production plant in 1985)
  • Order of the Holy Equal Apostle Prince Vladimir (1st degree 2008)
  • Order of the Reverend Nestor the Chronicler with a moiré ribbon (first degree for the construction of the Temple of the Image of Christ, not made by hand in Gorlovka 2008)
  • Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First (2013)
