Lupine Sansei: Lupine vs Fukusei Ningen ( Japanese ル パ ン 三世 ル パ ン VS 複製 人間 , Rupan Sansei: Rupan vs Fukusei Ningen ) is an anime film from 1978 that belongs to the series about the manga Lupine III .

action

Inspector Zenigata, who is hunting the master thief Lupine III, learns that he was hanged in Transylvania . To convince himself of his death, he travels after him. When he found him in a mausoleum , he drives a stake through the heart of the man who was believed dead, but after an explosion, Lupine is alive again. After his escape from Zenigata, Lupine and his best friend Jigen steal a gem from an Egyptian royal tomb. With the help of the samurai Goemon Ishikawa XIII. The two can flee from Inspector Zenigata again. Meanwhile, Fujiko Mine takes the order from an unknown person named "Mamo" to remove the gem from Lupine.

After a long battle with the desert, Lupine breaks his promise to Goemon and Jigen that he will no longer be interested in Fujiko, and the group falls apart. Fujiko reveals Lupine to Mamo, who is a clone of Howard Lockwood. Soon he convinced Lupine that he too was cloned and that the real Lupine died in Transylvania.

Production and publication

The film was produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha in 1978 and directed by Sōji Yoshikawa . The character design was created by Yūzō Aoki. The film was released in Japanese theaters on December 16, 1978.

The anime appeared in English in North America, Australia and the UK as The Secret of Mamo and The Mystery of Mamo, respectively . It has also been translated into French, Italian and Portuguese.
