N'gola (also Ngola ) is a beer from Angola . The brand had a 10% market share in 2012. N'gola has been brewed since 1974 by the ECN - Empresa Cervejeira N'gola brewery in Lubango , which has been part of the Angolan-French brewing group Cuca BGI since 2011 .

The distribution area of the Ngola beer is traditionally the south of Angola. Since the opening of the brewery ECNN - Empresa Cervejeira N'gola Norte in Funda in the district of Cacuaco (near Luanda) in 2010 , Ngola beer is now also sold in the north of the country.

The Ngola brewery inaugurated its third bottling plant in 2014 and achieved a monthly output of 1.3 million hectoliters.

history

The Ngola brewery was founded in Lubango in 1974 , still under Portuguese colonial administration .

After Angola's independence in 1975, all major companies were nationalized , including brewing companies. In 1980 the state-run beer group Empresa Nacional de Cervejas de Angola (ENC) was founded, in which, in addition to Ngola, the other Angolan breweries were also combined, such as the market leader Cuca , EKA and Nocal.

In the 1990s, the Angolan Ministry of Industry decided to partially open up domestic breweries to foreign brewing companies. In 2000, Ngola came to the SABMiller Group, while the Cuca, EKA and Nocal breweries were later taken over by the French Castel BGI and have since belonged to the Cuca BGI .

In the course of an agreement between Cuca BGI and SABMiller in 2011, with which they exchanged stakes in companies in various African countries, Ngola also came to Cuca BGI.
