After several expansion stages since 2007, the EKA brewery achieved a monthly output of 53.3 million liters in 2013. In addition to EKA beer, Nocal beer is also brewed here.

The brewery maintained a football team, the Desportivo da EKA do Dondo , until it was dissolved in 1997.

history

The EKA brewery was founded in Dondo in 1969 , under Portuguese colonial administration . On January 29, 1972, it delivered beer for the first time.

After Angola's independence in 1975, all major companies were nationalized , including brewing companies. In 1980, the state-owned beer group Empresa Nacional de Cervejas de Angola (ENC) was founded, in which, in addition to the EKA, the other breweries in Angola were combined, including the market leader of the Cuca brewery .

After the end of the Angolan civil war in 2002 and the onset of economic growth, the Angolan government decided in 2005 to privatize the four ENC breweries, in addition to Eka, Cuca, Nocal and Ngola.

The French Castel BGI then took over the Cuca, EKA and Nocal breweries in 2007 and has been running them since then in its subsidiary Cuca BGI.

From 2007 onwards, it continued to expand existing breweries, including the EKA brewery.
