N. Robin Crossby
Nick Robin Crossby (born May 18, 1954 in London , † July 23, 2008 in Coquitlam (British Columbia) ) was a Canadian game designer. He was the author of the fantasy game world HârnWorld and the pen & paper role-playing game HârnMaster, as well as founder of the Keléstia Productions publishing house .
Life
Robin Crossby was born on May 18, 1954, the third of four children to his Welsh-English parents in London. In 1968 he emigrated to Vancouver , Canada with his parents and two of his siblings . There he did an associate degree in philosophy . He later married and moved with his wife Sharon to Maple Ridge , where he lived until his death. The marriage produced three daughters. In January 2006, Crossby was diagnosed with liposarcoma in the abdomen. Operations and several chemotherapies brought some improvement, but were ultimately unsuccessful. On July 23, 2008, he died of cancer all in oneHospice in Coquitlam, near Maple Ridge.

As a child in London, Robin Crossby began playing role-playing games with his siblings. Another early hobby that would affect his later career was designing and drawing fictional maps . In the mid-1970s, Crossby began to publish parts of his self-written RPG rules in magazines. In 1983 he published the first edition of HârnWorld in collaboration with the (at that time Canadian) game publisher Columbia Games . His role-playing system HârnMaster followed three years later . By 2003, Crossby and Columbia Games made numerous other publications on HârnWorld and HârnMaster together. In 2003, Crossby and Columbia Games parted ways and Crossby began releasing material under his own label, Kelestia Productions . The dispute over the copyright to HârnWorld and HârnMaster publications was not resolved until Crossby's death in 2008.
