The five NSB Type X locomotives were cap-gauge tank locomotives built by the Swiss Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM) for the Norwegian State Railways Norges Statsbaner (NSB).
commitment
In the first few years, the NSB railways were independent state-owned companies with their own administration and vehicle fleet. These societies were assigned to the districts . This strict order was not changed until July 1, 1920. From this point on, the vehicles were used by the workshops , exceeded the previous company boundaries and were passed on to other works if required.
After delivery, two locomotives were used on the Drammen – Randsfjord Railway DRB, two locomotives on the Kristiania – Drammen Railway KDB and one on the Drammen – Skienbahn DSB .
These lines were all built in Cape gauge (1067 mm) and were only converted to standard gauge in the first half of the 20th century . The Randsfjord railway was the first in connection with the construction of the cable car in 1909 umgespurt . This was followed by the Drammen Railway in 1920 and the Drammen-Skien Railway as the last route in Norway in 1949.
With the integration of the independent companies on July 1, 1920, all five locomotives were based at the Drammen depot on that date .
- X 88 ( delivered as X 1 ) and X 36 were relocated to Arendal in 1924 to serve the Arendalsbane . In terms of books, they stayed there until July 1, 1938, although the line was operated in standard gauge from October 20, 1935. At this time it was already in use on the Treungenbane and the maintenance took place in the workshop in Treungen, to which it was also recorded on July 1, 1938. In 1942 they were delivered to Stavanger , where X 88 was parked on April 6, 1945 and taken out of service on September 13. The retirement of the X 36 followed on June 7, 1946.
- X 25 stayed in Drammen when it was retired on June 17, 1933.
- X 64 was relocated from Drammen to Kristiansand on September 19, 1923 to serve the Byglandsfjordbane , returned to Drammen on July 11, 1938 and was no longer used there from December 9, 1942. The retirement took place on September 13, 1945.
- X 9 was passed on from the Drammen – Randsfjordbanen DRB to the Drammen – Skienbanen DSB as early as 1909 . It was handed over to Stavanger by the Drammen workshop in 1922 and remained there until it was taken out of service on June 7, 1946.
