Nvidia GeForce 3 series
The GeForce 3 series is a series of desktop - graphics chip company Nvidia and successor of the "GeForce 2" series . With the GeForce 3 series, Nvidia is introducing DirectX 8 support for the first time .
Graphics processors
Only one graphics processor, the NV20, is used within the GeForce 3 series. It was the first graphics chip with support for pixel and vertex shaders according to DirectX 8. A special version (NV2A) was used in Microsoft's Xbox .

Naming
In contrast to its predecessor and successors, the GeForce 3 family consists of very few chips and only covers one segment, namely the high-end segment. While the first graphics chip, GeForce3, was given no name, this model was split a little later into two models (Ti 200 and Ti 500), which are a little slower and a little faster than the original version. The only difference lies in the speed of the memory and the GPU .
