Nabesna Road

The Nabesna Road is a 68 km long gravel road on the upper reaches of the Copper River in the Valdez-Cordova Census Area in Alaska . It connects Slana at Tok Cut-Off with Nabesna in Wrangell-St.-Elias National Park . Along with McCarthy Road , it is one of two streets that lead into the park.

The Wrangell Mountains , Mentasta Mountains and Nutzotin Mountains surround the road.

The road was built in 1933 by the Alaska Road Commission to supply the mine at Nabesna and to transport the mined ore away. Today she is serviced by the Alaska Department of Transportation .
