Evidence and dating

Night is known from various sources. In El Lisht he had a grave, where there was also a life-size statue of the night. There is another statue of him in Naples , the location of which is unknown. Finally Night appears on a marker on a block in the pyramid of Sesostris I found. The control mark is undated, but was found in an area of the pyramid that was built in the second decade of the ruler's reign. Since the chief asset manager Hor was still in office in the year 9 , Nacht was probably his successor (in the year 25 a certain Antef is again attested, who was his successor).

The grave in Lischt

The grave (No. 493) at the pyramid of Amenemhet I in el-Lisht was first excavated by a French excavation team from 1894 to 1895. They also found the life-size statue of the night on which he is referred to as the son of a Sathathor . The statue is now in Cairo . His cult chapel was 6.7 × 11.9 m in size. The building was largely destroyed, so that it is difficult to reconstruct the floor plan. There were once two pillars at the front. The interior was probably once divided. At the back was the statue. Only fragments were found of the reliefs . To the north of the chapel was the entrance to a shaft, which in turn led into the burial chamber. This has never been excavated because it is below the water table. The chapel stood within a burial area, which was surrounded by an adobe wall. The entrance to the facility was in the west.
