Nachtmann silies

Nachtmann-Silies is a German artist group consisting of Till Nachtmann (* 1973 in Reutlingen ) and Stefan Silies (* 1976 in Emsbüren ).

Career

Till Nachtmann studied in the film class at the Art Academy in Münster with Lutz Mommartz and Andreas Köpnick . He also studied Romance languages ​​at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. He completed his studies with the state examination or with the academy letter. He is a master student with Andreas Köpnick. Till Nachtmann lives and works in Cologne.

Stefan Silies studied in the film class of the Art Academy in Münster with Lutz Mommartz and Andreas Köpnick. At the same time he studied mathematics at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. He left the art academy as a master class student with an academy certificate. He then studied media art as a postgraduate at the Art Academy for Media in Cologne with Dieter Jung . He lives and works in Cologne.

Fields of activity

Till Nachtmann and Stefan Silies work on films and installations with sock puppets. You produce puppet films for the show with the elephant . In addition, they produce light objects. In cooperation with the musician duo Bassfrucht you organize laser concerts.

Since January 2008 they have also been running the 15½ gallery in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, which they founded together with Roman von Halassy. The gallery shows works with a clearly experimental approach by contemporary, international artists. The artists exhibited so far include the holographic Martina Mrongrovius (AUS), the choreographer Ric Oquita (USA) and the filmmaker and painter Clement Page (UK) as well as the conceptual artist Ruppe Koselleck (D).

In the summer of 2009 Till Nachtmann and Stefan Silies worked with Samy Challah on a puppet show in and around Cologne. The film with the title "Rumpe und Tuli" was completed in early 2010 and had its theatrical release on August 26, 2010. "Rumpe und Tuli" has been available on DVD since autumn 2011.
