The night watchman's house is a listed residential building in the village of Groß Bartensleben, which belongs to the municipality of Erxleben in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located on the west side of the village on the east side of Dorfstrasse at the address Dorfstrasse 11 . To the east of the house stands the Groß Bartensleben manor church , to the south the Bartensleben castle and access to the Groß Bartensleben manor .

Architecture and history

The single-storey elongated house was built from rubble stones in the 18th century . It served as the apartment of the night and gate guard at the entrance to the area of the neighboring Schloss Bartensleben. There is a striking roof house facing the street. A barn and stables are attached directly to the house.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 84157 . Presumably by mistake it is referred to there as a cantor's council.

The building is considered to be particularly relevant in terms of urban planning, in particular because of its linking function between the castle and village areas. It is also considered to be important in terms of culture and building history.
