Nackawic (Town of Nackawic) is a town in the Canadian New Brunswick , York County (New Brunswick) . The place has 1,049 inhabitants and is about 65 km from the capital Fredericton , on the Saint John River .

The main employer is the paper mill, which was taken over by the Indian Aditya Birla Group in January 2006 under the name AV Nackawic.
History and sights
The region was first settled in 1784 and then officially declared a city in 1976.
The place is also home to the largest ax in the world.
