Nadya Derado

Nadya Derado (born September 30, 1967 in Stanford , California ) is a German director and screenwriter .

The daughter of a Croat and a German first studied chemistry after graduating from high school and graduated in 1991. She then studied film directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin and wrote scripts for the films Sniper and Bosnia Story . In 2001 she co-wrote the movie Pigs Will Fly by Eoin Moore . In 2003 she made her film debut as a director with the film Yugotrip with Stipe Erceg in the lead role and Benjamin Dernbecher as cameraman. In her work, Derado mainly deals with the Yugoslavia conflict and its effects on today's generation and youth. Derado has two children and lives in Berlin. The jazz musician Tino Derado is her brother.
