The Big Hat ( Jap. 長野市若里多目的スポーツアリーナ, Nagano-shi Wakasato tamokuteki supōtsu Arina , German "multi-purpose sports arena Wakasato, Nagano") is a multi-purpose hall in the district Wakasato the Japanese city of Nagano was and for the Olympic Winter Games Established in 1998 .
history
On March 31, 1995, the stadium was handed over to the city as the first venue for the upcoming games and finally opened on December 10 of the same year. It is also known under its original provisional name Ice Hockey A Kaijō ( ア イ ス ホ ッ ケ ー A 会場 , Aisu hokkē A kaijō , German "ice hockey hall A") and because of its shape as Big Hat ( ビ ッ グ ハ ッ ト , German "big hat").
The arena has three spectator tiers that offer a total of 10,104 visitors, an installable ice hockey surface in accordance with the regulations of the World Ice Hockey Federation IIHF (61 × 30 m) as well as a highly modern computer system for controlling the ice temperature.
Next to ice hockey hall A, ice hockey hall B was built, nicknamed Aqua Wing .
