The Hakuba-Schanzen ( Japanese 白馬 ジ ャ ン プ 競技場 , Hakuba jampu kyōgijō ) are located in Hakuba , a village on the Japanese main island of Honshū in Nagano Prefecture in the Kitaazumi district. They were the Olympic hills of the XVIII. Olympic Winter Games in Nagano.
history
The project planning of the ski jumps began in 1987, and was completed in 1992. A year later they were covered with mats.
They experienced their international baptism of fire on January 25th and 26th, 1997 with a World Cup competition.
Large Hill (large hill)
Today the hill is mainly used for the FIS Summer Grand Prix , but World Cup competitions (most recently in 2004) and Continental Cup competitions (most recently in 2000) have already been held here.
The Japanese Kazuyoshi Funaki became the Olympic champion on February 15, 1998 , and the team competition on the large hill was also won by the local heroes from Japan .
