Nagaon is a city in the state of Assam in eastern India . Nagaon is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city is located on the Kolong River, 20 km south of the Brahmaputra and 100 km east of Guwahati , the largest city in Assam. The national highways NH 35 and NH 37 run through the city.
As a city, Nagaon has the status of a Municipal Board and had a population of just under 118,000 in the 2011 census.
