Nahid Anahita Ratebzad
Nahid Anahita Ratebzad ( Pashtun اناهيتا راتبزاد; * 1931 in Guldara ; † September 7, 2014 in Dortmund ) was an Afghan diplomat and politician .
Life
Nahid Anahita Ratebzad attended the Malalai Lycée in Kabul and studied health and nursing at the Chicago School of Nursing in the 1950s . In Kabul, she ran a women's hospital and taught nursing. When a chair for medicine was established at the University of Kabul in 1963 , she worked there in the faculty.
In 1965, after the new constitution came into force, she won the election for Wolesi Jirga against Mir Fath Muhammad as one of four women in the constituency of Kabul . In violent clashes after October 25, 1965, she protected Babrak Karmal from being slain by parliamentary colleagues. She was re-elected to this body in 1969 and acted as chairperson. In 1976 she was elected to the Central Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan .
In the course of the Saur Revolution on April 27, 1978, she was elected to the Revolutionary Council of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan , where she served as Minister of Social Affairs. Within the Democratic People's Party she was assigned to the Parcham faction. On July 10, 1978, she was dismissed from the Chalqi party wing as Minister of Social Affairs and sent to Belgrade as an ambassador.
From 1980 to 1981 she was Minister of Education in the Babrak Karmal government . In 1989 she was a member of the Politburo of the People's Democratic Party.
