Nalumino Mundia

Nalumino Mundia (* 1927 in Lozi ; † 1988 ) was a Zambian politician .

After independence in 1964, he was appointed Minister of Industry and Trade by President Kenneth Kaunda . In 1966 he resigned from the government. The United Party (UP) he founded in 1963 was to unrest in the so-called "copper belt" ( Copperbelt forbidden) Zambia in August 1968 by President Kaunda and arrested Mundia and other leading politicians of the UP. In 1969 Mundia was released from prison.

In 1972 he was again a member of the National Assembly and Vice-President of the African National Congress (ANC). In 1974 he joined the president's unity party, UNIP .

On February 18, 1981, he was appointed Prime Minister by President Kaunda to succeed Daniel Lisulo . He held this office until April 24, 1985 when he was replaced by Kebby Musokotwane . He was then appointed ambassador to the USA .
