Namdschilyn Bajarsaichan

Namdschilyn Bajarsaichan ( Mongolian Намжилын Баярсайхан ; born August 10, 1965 in the province of Dzawchan ) is a former Mongolian boxer . Bajarsaichan was Asian champion in 1987 and 1989 and bronze medalist at the 1992 Olympic Games .

Career

In the junior area (U19) Bajarsaichan was featherweight champion of the Eastern Bloc (-57 kg).

After victories in 1985 at the Police Championships of the Eastern Bloc and 1986 at the Military Championships of the Eastern Bloc, he was Asian champion in 1987 in the lightweight (-60 kg). In 1989 Bajarsaichan took part in the world championships , but retired in the quarterfinals against eventual world champion Julio Gonzalez, Cuba (26: 4), but he won the Asian championships again in the same year.

In 1991 he took part in the World Championships again, but failed this time in the quarterfinals to Vasile Nistor . With this placement, however, he also qualified for the 1992 Olympic Games , in which, after victories over Mauricio Avila, Guatemala (15: 0), and Haji Ally Matumla, Tanzania (9: 6), in the semifinals due to an injury against Marco Rudolph , Germany ( where ) retired and won the Olympic bronze medal.
