The Namibia Central Intelligence Service ( NCIS ), also Namibian Central Intelligence Service , formerly also Namibia Central Intelligence Organization ( NCIO ), is the intelligence service of the State of Namibia . It is headquartered in Windhoek and has offices in the regions of Namibia .

The basis of the NCIS is the Intelligence Act from 1997, according to which virtually no information about the intelligence service must or may be made public. The NCIS receives its budget from the President's Office .

Scandal 2018/19

The NCIS's purchase of numerous farms in the country had caused a public outcry in 2018/19. The farms were then used privately. The High Court dismissed it in a judgment the NCIS in his place and stood on the side of press freedom . The background was the publication of the weekly newspaper The Patriot , which the NCIS regarded as classified .
