The Namibia Meteorological Service ( MeteoNa for short ; German Namibisches Wetteramt ) is a state institution in Namibia . It is responsible for the collection of meteorological data and issues weather reports and forecasts . The Meteorological Office is an institution of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and a member of the World Meteorological Organization .
The main tasks of MeteoNa are divided into two areas:
- Weather forecasts for aviation and the general public
- Climate data and weather advice (e.g. for seafaring )
The Meteorological Office operates weather stations in many localities and rural areas across the country. It will also work closely with scientific initiatives such SASSCAL and regional weather facilities such as the "SADC El Niño Response Coordination Center" of the SADC worked.
