River course

The headwaters of the Namu River are located at a height of about 420  m in the northeast of the Namu Range , a ridge of the Pacific Ranges that limits the catchment area of the Namu River to the south and east. The Namu River flows mainly in a south-westerly direction. There are three lakes on the upper reaches, known as Draney Lakes . After another 4.5 km the Namu River reaches the east bank of Namu Lake . He leaves this on its west bank and reaches the Fitz Hugh Sound after only 500 m at the settlement Namu . The catchment area of the Namu River covers about 70 km². It is almost entirely within the two protected areas, Namu Conservancy (10,312 ha) and Namu Corridor Conservancy (83 ha).

Fish fauna
