Nanaka Kori gained her first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City , where she won the gold medal in the shot put with 15.89 m and the silver medal with the discus with 48.04 m. Then she retired at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz in both competitions in the qualification. In 2017 she took fourth place with the ball at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 15.33 m and was eighth in the discus throw with 49.55 m. Two years later she reached fourth place at the Asian Championships in Doha with 15.68 m again with the ball and with the discus she did not succeed in a valid attempt. In July she retired at the Summer Universiade in Naples with 50.53 m in the discus qualification, as well as in the shot put with 15.44 m. At the beginning of October she took part in the World Championships in Doha and was eliminated there with 48.82 m in qualification .
From 2017 to 2019 Kori became the Japanese champion in the shot put.
