Nandan Nilekani (born June 2, 1955 in Bangalore ) is the managing director of the Indian IT company Infosys Technologies Ltd.

Life

After studying at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay , he founded Infosys Technologies Ltd. 1981 together with NR Narayanamurthy . He is a co-founder of India's National Association of Software and Service Companies ( NASSCOM ) and was named one of the 25 Most Influential People in Asia by Fortune magazine in 2004 .

In 2010 he is the chairman of the board of directors (chairman) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which is involved in the creation of an identity card (UID) for the 1.3 billion residents of India.

In 2006 he was awarded the Padma Bhushan and elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2019 .
