Lucius Cossonius Gallus
Lucius Cossonius Gallus was a Roman politician and senator .
Gallus' full name is Lucius Cossonius Gallus Vecilius Crispinus Mansuanius Marcellinus Numisius Sabinus . He served as a tribune in the legio XXI Rapax . Since it is generally believed that it was destroyed on the Danube in 92, he could have been with the Legion by then at the latest. Before 100 Gallus triumvir capitalis (head of the prisons), then he became a legate in the province of Asia . At 111 Gallus was proconsul of Sardinia . A military diploma dated August 16, 117, proves that he was 117 suffect consul with Publius Afranius Flavianus . Before that, Gallus was governor ( legatus Augusti propraetore ) of Galatia and Pisidia from about 113 to 115 , after the consulate he was governor ( legatus Augusti propraetore ) of Judea from about 118 to 120 . He is the first known consular governor of the Province of Iudaea.
