Nano Ripe ( proper spelling nano.RIPE ) is a pop rock band from Japan .
history
Nano Ripe was founded in 1998 by Kimiko and Jun Sasaki as an indie band in Japan . The first four mini-albums were released on their own before the duo signed with publisher Lantis that year. At this point in time, Shinn and Nobuyuki Abe were joined by a drummer and a bass player, respectively .
The major debut album Hoshi no Yoru no Myaku no Oto no was released in October 2011. One month later Shinn left the band. The singles Esoragoto and Real World were licensed as clips for the anime series Sankarea and Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita, respectively . The song Moshimo no Hanashi , released at the end of October 2012, can be heard as the opening theme for Bakuman . In February 2013, Yūki Aoyama was first introduced as a session musician on drums, a month later he was permanently integrated into Nano Ripe.
In March 2016, the group played their first concert in North America on the anime Boston . The fifth album by Lantis, Space Echo , was released in October of the same year. At the end of 2016 Abe and Aoyama left the band, so that they function as a duo again. The single Azalea , released at the beginning of February 2018, can be heard as the opening song of the anime series Citrus, which started in the same year . In mid-June 2018, a new album, Pippara no Ki no Shita de, was announced for August 29 of the same year. The deluxe version of the album comes with an additional live album for the band's 20th anniversary.
Former drummer Yūki Aoyama died of heart failure on August 21, 2018 at the age of 29 .
