Nanogate is a manufacturer of design-oriented and resistant plastic parts and coatings (e.g. non-stick, scratch-resistant or corrosion-protecting surfaces). The company's headquarters are in Göttelborn , a part of the municipality of Quiigart in Saarland .

history

The company was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from Saarbrücken University , and operations started in mid-1999. In addition to management, the first investors to invest included the private equity company 3i and Sal. Oppenheim . In March 2006 Nanogate was converted into an AG and in September 2017 into an SE . The IPO took place at the end of October 2006 , at the end of which the company was listed in the Entry Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange . A little more than 600,000 shares were placed and the transaction volume was around EUR 19.3 million.

Over time, the company has repeatedly taken over competitors or industry-related companies in order to strengthen its own market position, for example Holmenkol Sport-Technologies GmbH & Co. KG in Ditzingen in 2002 and, most recently, the Jay Plastics division of the US company Jay Industries .

In the six months prior to the IPO, sales were EUR 3.7 million; from 2012 to 2017 it quadrupled to 186 million euros.

On June 22, 2020, Nanogate filed for insolvency under self-administration (protective shield proceedings) because it can no longer meet its financial obligations.

Products

The company produces plastics that are easy to shape and that are scratch-resistant and weatherproof. This includes u. a. Glass-like, transparent components, which are called glazing material within the industry . Applications include, for example, nano-thin protective or surface coatings in the automotive industry or - bacteria-repellent - as displays.

The company describes itself as an "integrated system house" that wants to support its customers along the entire value chain.
