Konrad Langhart

Konrad Langhart (born July 3, 1963 ) is a Swiss farmer and politician (non-party, formerly SVP ).

Life and work

Konrad Langhart grew up as the oldest of four children in a farming family in Oberstammheim in the Zürcher Weinland . After training as a farmer at the Swiss University of Agriculture (SHL) in Zollikofen, he acquired the title of Agronomist FH .

After working as a consultant for potato production for Fenaco in Winterthur from 1987 to 1988 , from 1990 to 1993 he worked as a consultant for a federal agricultural project in Kathmandu in Nepal .

He then took over his father's farm in Oberstammheim and has been running it since 2016 under the name Biohof Trottengarten in accordance with Bio-Suisse guidelines .

politics

Langhart was president of the SVP district of Andelfingen from 2003 to 2011 as well as on the board of the Cantonal Party of Zurich . On April 3, 2011 and April 12, 2015, he was elected to the Cantonal Council both times with the best results in his district . There he is a member of the Commission for Energy, Transport and Environment (KEVU). In 2013 he took over the presidency of SVP Stammertal .

On April 26, 2016, Langhart was elected party president of the SVP of the Canton of Zurich at the delegates' assembly against National Councilor Claudio Zanetti and Cantonal Councilor Hanspeter Amrein . After the SVP suffered a defeat in the cantonal elections in March 2019 , Langhart resigned after criticism from within the party in April. He ran for the 2019 National Council elections .

On December 20, 2019, he resigned from the SVP with clear criticism of the party leadership and the substantive orientation, but announced that he would keep his mandate in the cantonal council. He later transferred to CVP - Group , but remained independent .

Associations

As Vice President of Suckler Cow Switzerland from 2003 to 2008, he was also a board member of the Swiss Cattle Producers (SRP) from 2004 to 2008 and meanwhile an honorary member of Suckler Cow Switzerland.

From 2010 he was also President of the Agricultural District Association of Andelfingen and was a member of the board and committee of the Zurich Farmers' Association.

After being elected President of the Zurich SVP, he gave up all other offices and presidia.
