Nanshiku Si

The Nanshiku Si or Südgrotten Temple ( Chinese  南石窟寺 , Pinyin Nánshíkū sì , English South Grotto Temple, Southern Grottoes, etc. ) is a Buddhist cave temples in the district Jingchuan 泾川县 the prefecture-level city Pingliang in the Chinese province of Gansu . Like the neighboring North Grotto Temple ( Beishiku Si ), they were in the time of the Northern Wei Dynasty ( 386 - 534 dug). Of the original five caves, only cave 1 is still intact.

The South Grotto Temple has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (3-44) since 1988 .
