Naoki Sugai ( Japanese 菅 井 直樹 Sugai Naoki ; born September 21, 1984 in Yamagata Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .
Career
Sugai learned to play soccer on the school team at Yamagata Chuo High School . He signed his first contract with Vegalta Sendai in 2003 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . At the end of the 2003 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League . In 2009 he was with the club master of the J2 League and rose to the J1 League. In 2012 he was runner-up in the J1 League with the club. In 2018 he reached the final of the Kaiser Cup . For the club he completed 389 league games. At the end of 2018 he ended his career as a football player.
