Narcissus quagliata

Narcissus Quagliata (* 1942 in Rome ) is an Italian visual artist .

life and work

Narcissus Quagliata studied painting in Rome with Giorgio de Chirico in the style of Pittura metafisica . At the age of 19 he emigrated to San Francisco , where he studied painting and graphics with Richard Diebenkorn at the Art Institute and graduated in 1968 with a master's (MFA) in painting. He very soon discovered the material glass , with which he dealt with the phenomenon of light and specialized as a glass artist .

Quagliata works in the USA, Mexico, Europe and Asia, and his work is in private and public collections. Since the 1980s, more and more public space projects have emerged. The dimensions of the works range from smaller sculptures to the largest illuminated glass ceiling with a diameter of 30 meters; the Dome of Light in the station Formosa Boulevard of the subway of Kaohsiung was at Derix-Taunusstein made.

Today Quagliata lives in Mexico City .
