Lake Nasho is an inland lake in eastern Rwanda and forms the southern border of Akagera National Park . The lake is located in the Eastern Province in the Nasho Basin at an altitude of about 1300 meters. About 8 kilometers from the northeastern end of the lake is the border to Tanzania . The Nasho Lake extends over a length of about 9 kilometers from west to east and has a width of less than one kilometer. To the southeast lies Lake Cyambwe , from which Lake Nasho is only separated by a narrow land bridge.
The lake is densely overgrown with papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) and water lilies (Nymphea nouchallii). Due to its proximity to the Akagera Nile (connected to Lake Nasho via the Akagera swamps ), the lake has a large population of Haplochromini , hippos and crocodiles .
