Natalia Morar ( Romanian also Natalia Morari , Russian Наталья Григорьевна Морарь ; born January 12, 1984 in the Moldovan SSR ) is a Moldovan investigative journalist for the Russian magazine The New Times and a leading figure in the Moldovan opposition.

Morar lived in Russia from 2002 to 2007 and graduated in 2007 with a degree in sociology from Moscow State University . In December 2007 she was prevented from re-entering Russia by the Russian border troops at Moscow's Domodedovo airport without giving any further reasons , presumably because she had exposed corruption in Russia.

Morar was one of the organizers of the mass protests against the election victory of the ruling communists in Moldova's capital Chișinău in April 2009. Up to 15,000 people, mostly young people, took part in the protests. Most of them were informed of the protests via SMS and Twitter .
