Natalja Martynowa ( Russian Наталья Мартынова ; born November 19, 1970 ) is a former Russian cross-country skier and biathlete .

Career

Martynowa started cross-country skiing for the first time at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . There she finished 12th over 15 km classic. In the 1993/94 season she achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup in Dobbiaco with seventh place over 15 km classic and achieved her only podium finish in the individual World Cup in Oslo with third place over 15 km freestyle. At the season highlight, the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , she finished 23rd over 30 km classic. She finished the season in 18th place in the overall World Cup. In the following season, she came twice in the top ten in the World Cup singles and thus reached 16th place in the overall World Cup. She was also third in the season in Oslo , second in Lahti and first in Sapporo . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay , she finished 28th over 15 km classic. In the 1997/98 season she competed in several races in the biathlon world cup . She made her debut at the season opener in Lillehammer , where she was 36th in a sprint and 41st in the pursuit. In one race she finished 25th and thus won her only World Cup point, with which she was 83rd overall.
