Nathalie Delon (born August 1, 1941 as Francine Canovas in Oujda , in what was then the protectorate of French Morocco , † January 21, 2021 in Paris ) was a French actress and director .

Life

Nathalie Delon was born Francine Canovas as the daughter of an officer in Morocco. The family later moved to Nice . Delon returned to Morocco in 1957, where she married for the first time in 1958. There was a daughter from the marriage. After her divorce, she moved to Paris in 1960 , where she initially worked as a cover girl .

She came to film through Alain Delon , whom she met in 1962 and with whom she was married from 1964 to 1968; although she never took acting classes. Both son is the actor Anthony Delon . Their first film together, The Ice Cold Angel , directed by Jean-Pierre Melville , was a success. After the separation she starred with Richard Burton , Raquel Welch and Virna Lisi under the direction of Edward Dmytryk in Bluebeard (1972) and with Sylvia Kristel under Roger Vadim in Une femme fidèle (1976). She later became her own director in Ils appellent ça un accident (1982), for which she also wrote the screenplay. She took another approach with Sweet Lies (1988), also as a director and leading actress.
