National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology , AIST for short ( English for Japanese 産業 技術 総 合 研究所 , Sangyō gijutsu sōgō kenkyūsho , dt. About "general research institute for industrial technology", short 産 総S , Sansōken ), is a state sponsored Research organization in Japan . It was created in its current form at the beginning of the 2001 fiscal year (April 1st). The current president is Tamotsu Nomakuchi , previously chairman of the Japan Business Federation's intellectual property committee and chairman of the Japan Intellectual Property Association. The organization has 2,400 researchers and 700 administrative employees.

The Incorporated Administrative Agency ( dokuritsu gyōsei hōjin , self-governing body ) assigned to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry was spun off from the previous Ministry during the restructuring of the central government in January 2001 . Headquarters is in Tsukuba , Ibaraki Prefecture . The budget for fiscal year 2015 was around 99 billion yen .

activities

The AIST operates u. a. a database with spectra of over 34,000 organic compounds (as of May 2015). Up to six different spectra are displayed for each substance ( mass spectrum , 1 H-NMR , 13 C-NMR, infrared spectrum , Raman spectrum and ESR spectrum ). Most of the spectra were measured at the AIST to ensure that they were generated under reproducible conditions.
