The Paso Bravo National Park is located in the San Carlos district in the Concepción department near the Brazilian border in Paraguay . It was founded in 1998 and has an area of 1030 km². It is the largest national park in the eastern part of the country. It is located 590 km from Asunción .
climate
The average rainfall is 1351 mm per year; the rainiest months are November and December, the least rainy are June to September. The minimum temperatures are recorded between June and August with 14-15 ° C, the maximum temperatures between November and March with 33-34 ° C.
fauna
The national park is home to 48% of the country's known wildlife, including puma , jaguar , maned wolf , giant anteater , giant otter , caimans , boa constrictor , anacondas, as well as 428 species of birds including the rhea and 16 species of parrots . There are 103 species of fish in the park's streams.
flora
Paso Bravo is the origin of the pineapple , which was brought from here by the indigenous people to Central America and Mexico, as well as the cassava and the wild tomato . There are among others the Jatai tree ( Hymenaea courbaril ), which grows 35 m high and produces a sweet, edible fruit, the Palo blanco ( Calycophyllum multiflorum ), the Yvyra pitá ( Peltophorum dubium ), the Lapacho ( Handroanthus impetiginosus ) and orchids .
