National parks of France
France currently maintains ten national parks which, as public bodies, are subject to the Ministry of the Environment. The basis of the French national parks is a law from 1960 that regulates the tasks and framework conditions of the national parks. The main objectives are the protection of nature, the reception of visitors and the participation in local development.
The seven parks in metropolitan France make up a total of 0.66 percent of the total area.
