Natureum Darßer Ort
The Natureum Darßer Ort is a branch of the Maritime Museum Stralsund at Darßer Ort , the northern tip of the Darßes , which has existed since 1991 . The Natureum is located about five kilometers northwest of Prerow and about 8 km north of Born , in the middle of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park . It can only be reached on foot, by bike or by horse-drawn carriage (and bus shuttle if required).
The focus of the facility is on nature and the landscape of the Darß peninsula. Many animal preparations (from porpoises , seals , eider ducks and sea hare to beach crabs and blue mussels ) and a Baltic Sea aquarium with fish and invertebrates from the Baltic Sea show the diversity of animal life in the region.
The Natureum offers six permanent exhibitions:
- Natural area Darßer Ort,
- Animals of the Darss landscape,
- Baltic coast,
- Landscape in motion,
- Lighthouse history and
- the outdoor area.
From the 150 year old, 35 meter high lighthouse Darßer Ort you can see far over the lagoon landscape.
From the founding of the Natureum in 1991 to 2004, more than 1.7 million visitors were there.
