description

Certified farmers and processing companies produce organic food according to the Naturland guidelines , the product packaging of which can be labeled with the Naturland organic seal . The Naturland guidelines are stricter than the EU organic regulation . For example, since 2005, Naturland has had additional social guidelines with which the social conditions for the production and processing of the products are checked as part of the certification . The aim of the association is 100 percent ecological and fair agriculture worldwide.

Since 2010, Naturland has also been offering fair certification , which was developed together with the Ravensburger fair trade importer Weltpartner eG . The Naturland Fair certification is a voluntary addition that builds on the Naturland organic certification. Naturland-Fair-labeled products are all organically produced and fairly traded . Seven guideline requirements must be met: social guidelines, reliable trade relationships, fair producer prices, regional raw material procurement, joint quality assurance, social commitment and corporate strategy and transparency. “Eco + Fair nourishes more!” Is a campaign for sustainable world nutrition by Naturland and the umbrella organization of the Weltladen .

According to its own information, Naturland was the first organic association to introduce guidelines on ecological forest use and ecological aquaculture . In the mid-1990s, guidelines for organic aquaculture began to be developed. Aquafarms in more than 20 countries now produce according to these guidelines. In 1995, Naturland worked with the environmental associations BUND , Greenpeace and Robin Wood to develop a concept for the eco-certification of forest operations. Currently, 19 forest companies across Germany manage a forest area of around 53,400 hectares in accordance with Naturland guidelines.

The association is a member of the “Organic with a Face” initiative, on whose website customers can use a special bmg number printed on the packaging to research the origin of a product.
