The Sierningtal – Flatzer Wand nature park is located in the Gutenstein Alps in southern Lower Austria and is a local recreation area on the edge of the Vienna basin .

Location and landscape

The nature park is located in the municipality of the city of Ternitz , on the upper reaches of the Sierning , in a wooded, extensively used landscape on the edge of the Schneeberg massif .

The landscape protection area includes the cadastral communities Flatz and Sieding , the north-eastern part of which is designated as a nature park, between the villages of Hintenburg and Raglitz and the Strengberg. About half of the area of ​​both protection zones is also in the FFH area of ​​the Northeast Rim Alps: Hohe Wand-Schneeberg-Rax (European protected area AT1212A00, Management Plan Region Industrial District), at the southeast end of the northern Schneeberg section of this area, at the transition to the southern Rax section .

The meadows are rich in rare plant species, hedges and fruit crops. Particularly noteworthy natural sights are:

The association takes care of the expansion of the nature park, such as the establishment of an information trail and the Pecherei museum. There is a park near Sieding with a children's playground and animal enclosures, a fitness trail near Ternitz, a signposted nature trail , several barbecue stations and a lookout point on the Gfieder mountain.

The refuge in the park is the Neunkirchner Naturfreundehaus .
