Flatz is a locality and a cadastral municipality of the municipality of Ternitz in Lower Austria . The village has 284 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

The village is located northwest of Ternitz in a tapering valley cut, is the second largest cadastral municipality in the municipality after Sieding and includes not only Flatz but also the towns of St. Lorenzen and Reith . The majority of the cadastral community is forested. In recent times, several single-family houses have been built, especially on the flat slopes around Flatz.

The Flatzer Wand , a rocky eruption from the Auf der Kehr mountain ( 790  m above sea level ), frames the town in the north and offers several climbing routes as well as the Naturfreundehaus Flatzer Wand (also: Neunkirchner Haus or Flatzer Hut ) on the western flank.
