Petgärdeträsk nature reserve

The Petgärdeträsk nature reserve is a protected wetland on the Swedish island of Öland in the Baltic Sea . The area is designated as a Natura 2000 area .

The area in the northern part of the island, east of the country road leading along the east coast, is subdivided into the moors Petgärdeträsk , Träskmossen and the flat Tallträsket .

In Petgärdeträsk, reeds , bulrushes and rush edges predominate. The east thereof located Träskmossen is a slowly silted Direction , calcareous swamp. It is also dominated by rush edge. Tallträsket is to the southeast.

In addition to the sometimes rare plants in the area such as orchids and rust red head , the wetland is home to many species of birds. There are water rails , marsh harrier , red-necked grebe , teal and Beutelmeise . Rare species of beetles have also been found.

Observation towers were built in the willow forest to the south as well as in the pine forest to the west.
