The nature reserve Almehänge near Ahden and Wewelsburg with 18.74  hectares is located in the urban area of Büren in the Paderborn district . The nature reserve (NSG) was designated in 2007 by the district council with the Bürener Almetal landscape plan. The NSG consists of five sub-areas and borders on landscape protection areas.

All five areas are on the steep slopes of the Almetal . Two of the five sub-areas are to the west of the village of Wewelsburg and the Wewelsburg . These sub-areas are directly adjacent to the village development and are the only sub-areas that are on the east side of the Alme. Two other areas are north of the village. The fifth sub-area is southwest of the village of Ahden .

On the Almetal slopes in the NSG there are rare, warmth-loving and near-natural forests and bushes. There are natural rocks and quarries in the NSG.

According to the landscape plan, the NSG is of particular importance in the supra-regional biotope network system of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
