description

The NSG is located southwest of Steinhausen and is right on the city and district limits. The Eringerfelder Wald-Süd nature reserve borders directly in the Soest district . The area has been part of the 396 hectare FFH area Eringerfelder Wald und Prövenholz (No. DE-4416-302) since 2004 .

The NSG includes woodruff beech forest on a slightly north or north-west exposed area with near-natural, temporarily flowed upper streams and valleys of the Ruthenbach system, which are characterized by an extraordinary structural diversity. In the beech forest there is a mix of legs made of ash, sycamore, oak and poplar. Occasionally there is standing and lying dead wood with large tree fungi. The trees had only a small to medium tree wood with a lot of natural regeneration from ash. On the floor a layer of herb with disruptive indicators, especially a lot of nettles and balsam. The herbaceous layer, which is poor in species, is impaired in places by wood deposits and garden waste.
