The nature reserve Weinsberger Bachtal (NSG identification SG-009) with a size of 43.43 ha is located southwest of Solingen and northeast of Leichlingen . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the city of Solingen in 2005 .
A sub-area of the nature reserve, predominantly the eponymous stream itself, is also located in the much larger FFH area DE-4808-301 Wupper from Leverkusen to Solingen , which means that these areas belong to the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas .
Area description
The nature reserve comprises a section of the Weinsberger Bach with backwaters and surrounding valley and slope areas. The area is characterized by grassland and forest. The NSG is heavily forested with alder , ash and alluvial forests (soft and hardwood). The stream runs through the valley and around there are numerous mountain-like elevations that emphasize the valley location of the stream. There are also numerous wet meadows in the course of the stream. In the course of a stream is Luzulo - Buchenwald to find.
Numerous different, also protected, birds can be found throughout the area.
The area is open to hikers and walkers.
